About This Studio
Rethinking advocacy, marketing, and cultural tourism to increase opportunities for participation and engagement
Secure strong and consistent support from area businesses, government, civic organizations, and the public for arts and humaniteis organizations and other creative industries. The City of Providence is one of 156 communities from across the country that participated in Arts & Economic Prosperity III – a comprehensive study spearheaded by Americans for the Arts and implemented locally by the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism, that documents the economic impact of the nonprofit arts and culture industry. Findings about the City of Providence are powerful, indicating that the nonprofit arts and culture organizations in Providence generate $111.81 million in local economic activity. Despite this strong data, which was released at a press event in June 2007, the reality is that many arts and cultural organizations are struggling to make ends meet on earned revenue and require outside financial support to exist. The challenge for the cultural plan is to leverage the powerful results of this study.
